Logistics

The viewing room at American Legacy is equipped with a full kitchen. Paper plates, cups, napkins, and plastic cutlery are provided. There is a grill and picnic tables outside on the patio for use during warm weather parties. A $5.00 charge is assessed for use of the gas grill. The viewing room is heated in the Winter and air conditioned during the warmer months. A restroom is available adjacent to the viewing room,

Every child who attends a birthday party must complete and submit a Release of Liability form (available here). The form can be submitted on the day the child arrives for the party.


Scheduling

Parties must be booked at least two weeks in advance, and a nonrefundable deposit of $50.00 is required. The deposit is subtracted from the final bill. If a party needs to be cancelled, a 48-hour notice is required. Cancelled parties may be rescheduled. Parties that are not cancelled will be charged a minimum fee of $100.00. This includes no shows after the party has been scheduled. If a party has to be rescheduled due to inclement weather, it must be done at least 48 hours in advance of the party's schedule start time. Deposit and balance owed are payable in cash or check. We do not accept credit or debit cards at this time.


Activities

Birthday groups will tour the facility with one of our stable hands, trainers, or youth volunteers. All children under 18 years of age must wear a certified horseback riding helmet. (American Legacy will provide for the duration of the tour and riding time.) Bicycle helmets are not acceptable. Attendees will meet the horses kept at the stable, as well as learn some basics of grooming. The main activity is the horse riding, which take place in the indoor arena. In order to take part in the horse riding activities, all attendees who plan to ride must complete and submit a Release of Liability Form. The releases need to be turned in no later than the day of the party, and can be accessed here. Any children not participating will be required to stay seated in the viewing room for the safety of the horses.


Cost

A minimum of six (6) riders must be booked, which costs $100. Additional riders can be added for $15 per rider. Payment can be made by cash or check. A $35.00 returned check fee will be added should a check be unable to be processed.


Timeframe

The party is booked for a two-hour timeframe. During this time, the children will tour the barn, learn to groom, take mini-riding lessons, and play games on horseback and on the ground. The 30 minutes of the party is devoted to refreshments and opening gifts.


How Many Horses and What to Wear?

The number of horses that will be used depends on the size of the party. All of the horses used for birthday parties are lesson/training horses, and are accustomed to working with children.

Riding Attire: Children are required to wear long pants or capris, please no shorts or skirts. Sneakers or boots are required, please no sandals, flip flops, open-toed shoes, or heels. Children are required to wear certified riding helmets at all times, and the helmets are thoroughly inspected and cleaned before usage. In order for proper fit, ponytails should be secured no higher that the nape of the neck. Due to the fit of the helmet, no braids, beading, or decorative headwear.


A Gift from Us

As a special gift for the birthday boy or girl, we give a stuffed horse to the child celebrating his or her birthday. All other attendees are given a plastic horse.


Photography & Videography

You may take pictures and video record the event, as long as the horses do not mind. A staff member will promptly inform you if the horses are being startled. Flash must be turned off,
